Horon Dances of the Turkish Black Sea

e Turkish region of Trabzon on the southwestern corner of the Black Sea is ethnically very diverse with Turkish, Greek, Laz, and Hemşin populations. They all share a common dance repertoire of which Horon is the most important.  Horon is danced in a very rapid 7/8 (4 + 3) rhythm played by the Karadeniz Kemençe, a folk fiddle with a tuning very specific to the region,
